I haven’t really known where to go since my last post. The one where I revealed one of my darkest truths. The one where I decided to spill it out like a scattered mess upon the floor, without sweeping it back under a rug; leaving it out for anyone to stumble upon.
I could not pretend that a horrible injustice had not occured; that another woman had not been betrayed by the very judicial system put in place to uphold the law. To hold offenders accountable. To protect victims. Not to revictimize us.
They say the days of childhood are fleeting; is the best time of my life fleeting, too? If so, then this moment is just falling through my hands like grains of sand before I can grasp them. If they are all slipping away, what, then, is there to hold on to?

“Happy Mother’s Day.” The text arrived during a joyful day of celebrating with my husband and two young boys. As soon as I saw it, sickness swelled in my stomach, and it wasn’t just the 10-week, new pregnancy making me feel ill. It was heartbreak for the friend on the other end of the message. The friend who had miscarried just a few months before.
